Plein Air Dangers

Kaleden SOLD
12 x 16
oil on board

This should have been a plein air painting but as the original suffered a 'wipe down' fate and I still felt the need to paint this scene I did it at home. Much as I love taking my loyal little Yorkie I was worried the whole time he'd end up in a bunch of cactus or worse being bitten by a snake so I wasn't able to concentrate with him under my feet. Today he did everything in his power to get out that gate and into the car but I got away without him. I think the guilt was worse than the worry so next time he comes with me...

Great colour! It's so fresh and lively.

This turned out very colorful and experimental, Barb!I like the almost secretive feel of it! Ah yes, doggies get into all sorts of trouble!

Thanks so much Kim and Marie - I have a little glitch suddenly with my camera and the photos are coming out quite dark - have to work on this. And yes Marie - colorful it is though I am really trying to gray things down a bit!

The color is amazing - like a great opal! I could look at this painting for a long time to just for the pleasure of color!

Thanks Terri - I got a great helpful hint from a plein air painter last month about going more intense and darker with the blue thru the trees, something about the trees themselves absorbing some of the light and saving the pure hue for just a small patch of water gives it punch. I feel I'm getting closer and closer to where I want to be with landscapes!
