Mediterranean Dreamin...

Collioure Hotel
14 x 18
oil on wrapped canvas

I started out with a winter BC landscape and lo and behold what appeared was a home away from home on the Mediterranean Sea. This was such a lovely hotel that we stayed at during our June bicycle trip that we decided to stop and stay for a few days. Guess I'm pining for warmer weather...

Very lovely painting! And what a healthy life you lead, Barb. You probably know that you were in Matisse country there. He made lovely paintings from his window at Collioure.

Thanks so much Marie. It was a very artistic community and the light was amazing especially as the sun was setting.

Thank you - would I call you C or Hummel??? My husband and I tried to write up a blog while we rode but the internet access was sporatic. Check out www.thehillierthebetter.blogspot.com for some photos and a little bit of writing. We basically rode from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean via the Pyrenees or what is called the Raid Pyreneean route.

Thank you Diana. This hotel is only 15 kilometers from Spain so my husband and I jumped on our bikes one day and rode the coast thru many tiny villages to a Spanish one for a drink on the beach. It was magical.

Hi, Barb! I could definitely picture being someplace just like this! What a perfect painting for this winter. If only!
Thanks so much for your well-wishes. I really appreciate your thoughts. Mom continues to decline, and it's a struggle, but I'm hanging in there.
I hope your holidays are merry. I love your snowman and reindeer painting, too! hugs, Liz
